School Council

Welcome to our School Council Page

At Scarcliffe Primary School, we value the views of our pupils.  One way in which we gather their views and ideas is by having a school council.  The president and vice president were voted for by the pupils in a democratic voting system.  They then advertised the roles that were available in school and interviews took place to get the right people for each role.

The Democratic Vote

In order to choose our School Council President and Vice President, we held and election in school.  All candidates had a week to put a campaign together and delivered speeches to the rest of the children in a special assembly.

After counting the votes, we found out that Madison and Kai were chosen for the roles.

Following the vote, it was time to advertise for the roles we needed to fill.  Madison and Kai then interviewed the candidates based on their application forms and appointed the new school council.

Below is a short introduction from each of the School Council teams.  They have set out what they want to achieve by the end of the year.

President and Vice President

We are Madison and Kai and we’re the president and vice president of the school council.  We really want to make this school an even better place for everyone.  We feel really excited to be able to do these roles.  We will make sure everyone on the school council knows what they are doing and will tell you what has been happening on the school council during assemblies.

The Rewards Councillors

We are Charlotte and Sam and we are the reward councillors.  This year we aim to make the rewards even better.  Some of our ideas are to introduce a checklist of rewards for Superstar Students and a new attendance bear – our current one is broken. We will keep you up-to-date throughout the year.

The Fundraising Councillors

We are Annabel and Jesse, and we are the fundraising councillors.  Our ideas are: Dress-down Friday at the end of every term and a bric-a-brac sale. We are hoping to raise lots of money for the school and a chosen charity.

The iVengers (Online Safety Councillors)

We are Isaac and Minty, and we are the iVengers.  Our mission is to make sure children stay safe online by sharing key messages with them and their parents.  We will complete a mission every term and will update our website to share what we have done. We’re both passionate about online safety and hope to lead some assemblies this year.

Anti-Bullying Ambassadors

We are Willow and Lacey, and we are anti-bullying ambassadors.  We are sooo happy we got this job!  We are going to help as many people as we can and cannot wait to make certain that bullying doesn’t happen at our school.  We will continue to monitor the worry boxes and have thought about going on to the infant playground more often to see if they have any worries.

The Sports Councillors

We are Lennie and George, and we are the sports councillors.  We are excited about making children more active, encouraging Key Stage 1 and forming a brand-new team of play leaders.  Some new ideas are having Key Stage 1 mini leaders and bringing back the morning mile.  We will keep giving out certificates to play leaders and children who impress us.

The Eco Councillors

I’m Heidi, and I’m the manager of the Eco Council.  Felicity and Lola B are my helpers, and together we make up the Eco Council.  Our job is to make the world a better place.  Our idea is to organise a ‘Go Green Day’ where children do various activities about saving electricity and the planet.  We have lots more ideas to share throughout the year.

School Charity:

Every year we set ourselves the target to raise money for our school and other charities.  In recent years, we managed to raise a staggering £1214.69 for Ashgate Hospice and over £1000 for Macmillan Cancer Support!  Well done to the children who organised the events and the school community for their support.

Children in Need:

We recently took part in Children in Need day.  Annabel and Jesse had the job of making the day fun and memorable while raising money for charity.  Each class decided on their own themes for a dress-up day.  They also chose an activity to raise more money.  This year, most classes opted for bringing a teddy to school.  The staff were very thankful, as the year before, the children chose to hold a 'pie the teacher' contest!

Progress made this year:

The school council met with the old school council, so they could share where they are up to with certain projects and to share some top tips.
